Chennai’s vintage silk sari brand Nalli silk opens store in London

What could be perceived as a matter of pride for our silk fabric has always been in demand worldwide regardless of the circumstances, recently a renowned chennai based textile brand which was established in 1928 and claims of sharing a legacy dating back to British era, when King George V visited India in 1911, Tamil Nadu gifted the king a hand-crafted Kanchipuram Silk Saree from the company as a souvenir.

According to the claims, Nalli textile brand wove a rich silk sarees with a special coronation-themed border gifted it to Queen Elizabeth II on her coronation in 1954.

Hailing it a sign of flourishing trade between India-UK trade partnership despite the blight caused by pandemic UK’s Department for International Trade (DIT) said its official in Chennai and London have been working with Nalli over the past 18 months to help facilitate site visits in the UK, introductions to key accounting and tax services.

DIT has supported many other firms besides Sari firm as a part of  Indian retail investments into the UK, including Delhi-based heritage occasion wear retailer Frontier Raas, and Mumbai-based luxury fashion house Purple Style Labs.
