A Designer’s Call to Vaccinate Artisans

Amidst all the misinformations regarding the post effects of vaccines, Delhi based designer, Sonica Sarna is calling the community of weavers, artisans, printers and dyers to get vaccinated.

Running a vaccine campaign to raise awareness among the workforce at the foundation of the fashion supply chain, Sonica Sarna, who runs a design company that works in association with craftspersons from various states has scripted and put a step by step process for artisans to get themselves registered for vaccination.

As Some of the artisans are fretful about the after effects of vaccines and some find it hard to register themselves on the CoWIN website due to digital illiteracy, she is putting a text across the design fraternity for volunteers to help them register. In some quarters they are also grappling with payment not coming in from big clients, saying about 65% of his work force are women and 70% are under 45.

She also reached out to the artisan community which includes small businesses who manage orders, worker cooperatives, NGOs, or sometimes just the informal leader of a group of weavers, printers, and dyers.Earlier in May, the provisions were also submitted by the Centre in the Supreme Court saying that those who are not digitally enabled can seek help from “family, friends, NGOs.
