Artisanal creativity flourishes in 24th edition of Hunar Haat at Lucknow

The 24th edition of Hunar Haat, inaugurated by the Chief Minister at Lucknow’s Awadh Shilpgram reflected the potential of indigenous products made by local artisans in the sustainable development of economy. The event has been organised by the Minority Affairs Ministry and will continue till February 4.
This is the first time when the products listed under Uttar Pradesh government’s One District One Product (ODOP) scheme have been included in the Hunar Haat. ODOP aims to create product specific traditional industrial hubs across 75 districts to provide employment to the youth in their native place.
Based on the theme of vocal for local, the event will see the participation of more than 500 youth artisans from various states engaged in motley craft such as Ajrakh, Chikankari, Batik, Bagh Print, Banarasi Silk, Bastar, Bell Metal, Pashmina handloom cane, bamboo and many others.
CM lauded the unprecedented work of bringing over 5 lakh artisans across the country to a commercial platform, hailing it as a phenomenal step towards the realisation of the goal of self reliance India.
