Assam resolves to uplift traditional jewellery artisans through Common Facility Centre

With the objective of augmenting the production by technological integration without compromising the quality, the Assam govt is going to establish a Common Facility Centre (CFC) in Guwahati which will run a 6 month apprenticeship training to impart the skills in gold and traditional jewellery making to the participants.

CFC envisions to boost the case of local jewellery artisans of the region by disseminating the advanced production techniques to make them competent in a global market dominated by the multinational jewellery manufacturing firms.

Various Units for gems stone processing, plating, casting, chain making, die cutting etc. have been set up at the CFC.The services of contemporary instruments and machines will certainly assist the craftsmen to boost and enhance their merchandise multi-fold.

Urging the participation of youth in the spirit of vocal for local campaign, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said at the inauguration of CFC, the implementation of Act East Policy has opened up vistas in the individuals markets of ASEAN and Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal (BBN) nations which can utilised by merchandise akin to conventional Assamese jewelry in order to capture the opportunity.
