Beyond the Dazzle: Inside French Jewelry Designer’s Blue Oasis in Jaipur

The creation of globetrotting jewelry designer Marie-Hélène de Taillac sparkles in the shelves of showrooms in Paris and New York but it is within the four walls of her colorful residence in Narain Niwas Palace Hotel, Jaipur where all the imagination materializes into those  gems.

There can not be any more charming distraction than having to fix your eyes at colorfully decorated walls, lay your feet at the floors covered with handmade rugs and pin your thoughts at the  debating variations of patterned wallpaper, or  patch worked cushions.

The house is designed with the help of the Dutch interior designer Marie-Anne Oudejans also lives in the hotel and helped her friend Marie-Hélène decorate the two-bedroom suite overlooking the property’s garden which has always been a refuge for peacocks.

Designer Marie-Hélène de Taillac‘s colorful residence is in the lovely Narain Niwas Palace Hotel, Jaipur has it all which instantly tempt one to share the same ambience. The glimpses of her abode have also been featured by the Architectural Digest.

Powder Blue is the trademark colors of the walls.Between blue and turquoise, there are 50 variations with distinct hue because they don’t exist anywhere else According to Marie-Hélène explained, “Color is everywhere in Jaipur, There’s a great sense of decoration and of craftsmanship here.Even the rickshaws are painted with motifs. People know how to design and make things, and everything is possible.”

The designer’s guest bedroom includes a custom canopy bed designed by Oudejans (my dream bed, to be sure) and framed antique quilted textiles. The chevron dhurrie makes a graphic statement as it creates a sense of rustic environs.
