Creating an Ideal Learning Environment for Young Minds

In Vijayawada, Cocoon at Bloomingdale International School transforms early education with its nature-inspired, imaginative design. Created by Jwalant and Kanika Mahadevwala, this playful, open space sparks creativity and exploration for young minds.

Jwalant and Kanika Mahadevwala, leveraging their experience from Toddlers Den, created Cocoon at Bloomingdale International School. Their design features a floating, landscape-inspired structure that integrates smoothly with the existing building through a sunken courtyard, blending innovation with tradition.

The new school building, crafted by Jwalant, showcases an undulating roof that contrasts with its rectangular base. Designed to reflect the energy of young students, the wavy roof introduces a dynamic visual element while inviting playful engagement. Its turf finish blends with the surrounding landscape, creating a harmonious connection between the structure and nature.

The 3,000-square-foot area includes four classrooms and two washrooms, with a sliding partition for flexible layouts. Wood floors and granite surfaces are used throughout, while extensive glass walls merge indoor and outdoor spaces, flooding the interior with natural light and greenery.

The school’s multi-level outdoor spaces, designed to match the campus elevations, offer versatile areas for children’s activities, from rolling on contoured grass to leaping on steps.

This innovative design transforms early education with its dynamic architecture and flexible classrooms, providing an inspiring environment for boundless imagination in Vijayawada.
