From Architectural Dreams to Artistic Expression in Ceramics
Megha Gupta embodies the spirit of Jaipur, the pink city, through her art. Her work as a ceramicist flows from her deep connection to spaces, where the journey of creation becomes as vital as the masterpiece itself.
Megha merges her architectural vision with her artistry, crafting pieces that resonate with the essence of Jaipur. Her creations, rich in form and color, draw inspiration from the architectural models and vibrant cityscapes she has documented over the years.
The Royal Bathhouse, inspired by hammams where royalty relaxed, led Megha to create unique hand-painted ceramic miniatures after discovering one in Jaipur palace. Her “no wall” wall installation explored art and history by dividing spaces without closing them. Additionally, her pink quilt pays homage to Jaipur and her grandmother’s sewing skills, featuring red stripes influenced by Sanganer’s crafts.

Megha’s childhood dream of hands-on creation led her to architecture, but the field offered limited practical opportunities, aside from making earth bricks in a South Indian village. This experience inspired her shift to pottery and a master’s in ceramics. “From crafting mud houses to utensils, clay allows me to express the joy I find in this world.”
Megha’s art is a vibrant fusion of design and architecture, crafting visual treasures that embody the spirit of diverse cultures. Her ceramics are a heartfelt homage to the inspirations and experiences that resonate with her, celebrating the beauty and joy that art brings to life.
