Gaylord: Where Mumbai’s Monsoon Retreats to Timeless Grandeur

Gaylord, designed by Rohit Sharma and Siddhartha Srivastava of Headlight Design Studio, blends Art Deco elegance with modern vibrancy at Mumbai’s Churchgate. Experience delectable viands amidst Parisian-inspired dining and nostalgic photographs.

Adorning the walls are antique black-and-white photographs from the 1950s, featuring distinguished guests ranging from Bollywood legend Rajesh Khanna to fashion icon Christian Louboutin. Throughout the day, visitors gather around these evocative snapshots, enjoying a spirited game of guess-the-person trivia.

To the left, a bustling bakehouse draws a constant crowd, while nearby, al-fresco dining beckons with spacious seating and a touch of Parisian allure at Churchgate, Mumbai. Giant semi-circular windows offer a glimpse of the warm dining space, adorned with red opera-style curtains. Below, the well-lit dining area buzzes with live music, while the mezzanine above exudes a cozy ambiance with dimmer lighting and a rich red and black color scheme.

In Gaylord’s elegant upper level, patrons enjoy the Mohabat Sharbat mocktail, inspired by Delhi’s Chandni Chowk. Despite quieter post-lunch hours, the restaurant remains vibrant.

Ceiling mirrors and stained glass windows draw the eye upward, while the Art Deco-inspired bar adds a plush, glossy touch. Black and white cabinets with hints of gold shimmer under softly lit lamps, embodying the spirit of the roaring twenties revived.

Gaylord’s menu, curated by head mixologist Mahesh Solanki, blends Indian spices into cocktails like the Cinnamon Old Fashioned, complemented by cinnamon smoke. From classic Fish and Chips to flavorful Masala lamb chops and Lobster Thermidor, Gaylord offers a blend of tradition and innovation for a memorable dining experience.
