IHHA’s 23rd Annual Convention to Be Held in Tamil Nadu for the First Time
The Indian Heritage Hotels Association (IHHA) will hold its 23rd Annual Convention on the 19th and 20th of September, 2024, at Indeco Hotels Swamimalai, Tamil Nadu. This event, themed “Revitalizing Indian Heritage,” marks a significant first by being hosted outside Rajasthan.
Since 1990, the Indian Heritage Hotels Association (IHHA) has led the way in heritage tourism by restoring historic hotels. After its first convention in Ranthambore in September 2012, IHHA will host its 23rd Annual General Meeting and 11th Annual Convention on September 19-20, 2024. This year’s “Revitalizing Indian Heritage” theme marks a milestone, as the event will be held at Indeco Hotels Swamimalai in Kumbakonam, Tamil Nadu, for the first time outside Rajasthan.
The event will be inaugurated by Union Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and Tamil Nadu Tourism Minister K. Ramachandran, with IHHA President Emeritus HH Gaj Singh presiding over the proceedings. The convention aims to breathe new life into heritage tourism across India, spotlighting the 206 heritage hotels nationwide, including 140 in Rajasthan.

Steve Borgia, the Vice President of IHHA, will lead the convention with a focus on encouraging the younger generation to take on leadership roles and advancing IHHA’s global impact on heritage tourism.
The event will include discussions on enhancing marketing strategies for heritage hotels, aiming to boost their presence both domestically and internationally.
On September 20, Tamil Nadu’s Tourism Minister, K. Ramachandran, will officially open the convention and deliver the keynote speech. The gathering is expected to attract around 150 heritage hoteliers from across India, underscoring IHHA’s dedication to safeguarding the country’s rich cultural heritage for future generations.
