Jaipur Rugs Presents: The Court of Carpets – A Celebration of Artisans
Jaipur Rugs introduces ‘The Court of Carpets’ at their new London store, featuring 93 stunning rugs in pink and green tones inspired by Bougainvillea. Experience the spectacle as village weavers-turned-players challenge tennis star Rohan Bopanna, blending artistry with athleticism in a unique cultural event.
Building on Jaipur Rugs’ success with an all-female artisan cricket team, four master artisans from Manpura village have transformed into skilled tennis players after rigorous training. This creative blend of Wimbledon and rural Rajasthan celebrates their journey to excellence, with artisans dressed in elegant tennis saris merging classic whites with Rajasthani motifs, showcasing their talents in a match against Bopanna.
The court features a hand-knotted net, showcasing exceptional weaving skills. The campaign celebrates creativity and craftsmanship. Neon yarn balls add playful color accents. Artisans’ saris with Jaipur pink borders nod to their heritage. From antique Persian carpets to Bakhtiar runners, Jaipur Rugs’ rich visual language is evident. White wool fringes mark service lines, blending tennis elements with rug-making artistry.
The story of The Court of Carpets reflects Jaipur Rugs’ commitment to empowering its artisans. Four players challenging Rohan Bopanna are master artisans from Manpura, near Jaipur. They trained extensively under in-house tennis pro Anshul Pareek, mastering powerful serves and precise backhand volleys with the same dedication they bring to their craft.
The Court of Carpets seamlessly combines Wimbledon’s sportsmanship with rural Rajasthan’s rug-making craft. Its success lies in meticulous attention to detail, embodying the pursuit of excellence in every aspect. This campaign exemplifies the brand’s dedication to nurturing craftsmanship, embracing representation, inclusivity, and achieving a harmonious blend of heritage and contemporary innovation.
