Lucknow’s Shail Utsav: A Dazzling Display of Contemporary Sculpture and Artistry

From October 14 to 21, 2024, Lucknow sparkled with the ‘Shail Utsav’ sculpture camp at Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University. Ten visionary artists created stunning sculptures to enhance the city’s public spaces. This artistic showcase is set to inspire and beautify the community.

Lucknow recently embraced creativity with the ‘Shail Utsav’ contemporary sculpture camp at Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University. Over eight inspiring days, ten talented artists from diverse states showcased their artistry. Their sculptures will soon grace the city’s intersections and parks, enriching its aesthetic landscape.

Crafted from vibrant materials like yellow and pink sandstone, black granite, and yellow marble, each piece tells a unique story. The artists explored captivating themes such as circular forms, nature’s elements, and the essence of growth. These creations not only enhance beauty but also invite reflection on environmental balance.

LDA vice-chairperson Prathamesh Kumar commended the artists for their imaginative work, announcing plans for public installations. Chief guest JP Pandey, vice-chancellor of AKTU, celebrated the collaborative spirit that made the event a success. His praise underscored the importance of art in urban spaces.

Curator Vandana Sehgal and coordinator Bhupendra Asthana highlighted the artists’ dedication throughout the camp. Their tireless efforts over the week culminated in a vibrant showcase of creativity.
