Mount Abu’s Jaipur House: From Royal Residence to Boutique Luxury

The Jaipur House in Mount Abu, once a royal retreat, has been transformed into a boutique hotel. Overlooking Nakki Lake and nestled in the Aravalli Range, it combines historical allure with a fresh redesign by the designer sensation Marie-Anne Oudejans.

After over two decades, the Jaipur House needed a redesign, managed by Sawai Padmanabh Singh. The Maharaja aimed to modernize the hotel while preserving its heritage and selected Marie-Anne Oudejans for her exceptional design skills. He praised her, saying, “Marie-Anne’s vision perfectly matched my goals for Jaipur House, surpassing all expectations.”

Oudejans’ design for the hotel features bold stripes, vibrant colors, and chic chevrons. She aimed to blend classic English elegance with an exotic touch, inspired by the Maharaja of Jaipur and the royal families’ polo visits to Mount Abu.

The 29 rooms showcase Oudejans’ vibrant, maximalist style with a contemporary edge. From the hunter green polo lounge to the multicolored rooftop bar, each space features bold design and personal touches, including family memorabilia and photos. Oudejans notes that each room tells a unique story, creating a charming sense of family.

The Jaipur House’s redesign reflects a trend of repurposing heritage sites into hotels and event venues. Sawai Padmanabh Singh emphasizes that preserving these monuments is vital for showcasing our history and fostering global discussions on conservation.
