Rare Lily : Experience the Magic of Artistry and Sustainability at vintage Bungalow

An old bungalow in Chennai has been transformed into Rare Lily, a vibrant retail space featuring unique furniture and decor. With a focus on sustainability, the shop highlights thoughtful design elements and curated collections from local artisans.

Aarthi Nahar, an interior designer from Chennai, has beautifully transformed an old bungalow into Rare Lily, a vibrant retail space for unique furniture and decor. Partnering with her brother Adarsh Chuttar, they’ve added thoughtful touches like petrified wood washbasins and recycled rubber soap dispensers, making the space truly special.

Rare Lily showcases a striking 19th-century candelabra, said to be commissioned by the British royal family, adorned with intricate silver details and rich ruby glass embellishments. The focus on sustainability is evident in the imaginative wall art crafted from repurposed paint cans and recycled fibers, blending creativity with eco-conscious design.

A stunning highlight is the 19th-century Italian table clock, featuring intricate brass scrollwork and a hand-painted Victorian scene, topped with a delicate porcelain urn. The collection also boasts 18th-century Chinese baluster vases with detailed needlework and a stylish 20th-century Farsi pedestal lamp, transformed into a chic electric fixture.

To enhance the overall experience, the shop collaborates with local artisans from Luxure Furnishings and Loops by Latika Jagwani, offering custom rugs, carpets, and upholstery. A curated selection of paintings and prints from Studio Artemis further enriches the space, making it a true destination for artful and sustainable home decor.
