REVIVE Alliance: UNDP & Samhita (CGF) join forces to restore livelihoods of 100,000 informal sector workers

REVIVE is a recently launched $6.85 million multi-stakeholder blended finance facility with the objective of consolidating the state of micro-entrepreneurs, artisans, women collectives and other unorganised sector workers impacted by pandemic.

Besides ensuring better and equal access to social protection systems for the informal sector workers the collaboration between United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Samhita-Collective Good Foundation’s (CGF) REVIVE Alliance, supported by USAID, Omidyar Network India, and Michael & Susan Dell Foundation will provide support in terms of technical assistance, capacity building, digital skills, business management and market linkages.

UNDP endeavours as a part of REVIVE initiative to restore the livelihoods of 100,000 workers and micro enterprises across India which include diversified cohorts such as artisans, farmers, beauty preneurs, blue-collared workers, street vendors, construction workers and sanitation workers.

According to a statement by UNDP Resident Representative in India, Shoko Noda, “The COVID-19 pandemic has severely affected the livelihoods of India’s informal workers and micro entrepreneurs – especially women who are already economically disadvantaged or dependent on others. The initiative will provide accessible and affordable capital as grants and credit to help small enterprises recover better and faster.”
