Sanctuary Bar & Kitchen: A Modern Rebirth of Goa’s Historic Allure

A neglected 200-year-old Portuguese villa in Goa, now a top destination for wine and dining is designed by Kiasma Studio with Ar. Sowmya Lakhamraju as Principal Architect and W Design Studio for interiors, the building exemplifies the enduring architectural legacy of the Portuguese in Goa.

The property is embraced by the sprawling roots of a majestic tree, with the villa at its heart, drawing attention while harmonizing with its surroundings. Inside, the space is split into two distinct areas: by day, the kitchen offers a French-inspired breakfast atmosphere, and by night, it transforms into a vibrant bar with a 40-seater cabana and a rustic counter, ideal for socializing and relaxing.

Half of the plot is dedicated to preserving natural landscapes, enhancing biodiversity, and creating a unique sanctuary. Adding to the historic charm and natural beauty, Kiasma Studio has incorporated curated art throughout the space. Sculptures are nestled within the greenery, and murals decorate the villa’s walls, each artwork enriching the environment and elevating the visitor experience.
