Ministry of Tribal Affairs in collaboration with Ministry of Culture will be organising a 2 day event called GI Mahotsav in the premises of Lal Bahadur Shastri Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) to demonstrate the various GI products across the country.
LBSNAA is also engaged in marketing and promotion of GI products, along with other tribal handicrafts. TRIFED is also striving to identify the new products that can be brought in ambit of Geographical indication tag.
GI tagging has really been fruitful to an extent of democratising the local products among tourists as well, it also encourages the growers & artisans and motivates the marketers to expand their business both nationally & internationally. There are a welter of Make in India products such as Mysore silk, Chanderi saree, Banarasi brocades, saharanpur woodcraft, pashmina shawls Pochampally, varieties of spices, Orissa Patachitra, Worli painting, Araku valley coffee, Kullu shawls, Jaipur blue pottery, and many more.
Besides exhibitions of crafts, the two day event will also present a culinary festival planned to showcase tribal culture and tradition practices.
