This Noida home is a harmonious Blend of Kerala’s architecture and Bengali Literature
Designed by Nistha Duggal, Rohan Gera, and Saumya Singh, this Noida home embodies a family’s passion for travel and literature. Featuring a curated collection of books, warm earthy tones, and personal mementos, the design creates an inviting and meaningful space.
Nistha Duggal explains that the client wanted a home reflecting the vibrant spirit of “Rani” from *Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani*, while honoring their personal story. The design featured the family’s extensive collection as decor, with many custom-built items and select pieces from local brands.
Upon arrival, the residence reveals a sacred space adorned with tall Jodhpur pillars and handmade Athangudi tiles. The 22-foot foyer, inspired by South Indian temples, embraces its dark ambiance. “We faced a challenge placing the temple according to Vastu,” says Duggal. “Instead of brightening it, we drew on Kerala’s architectural traditions to enhance the atmosphere.”
The drawing room features rustic regal furniture and lime-washed walls, accented by Durga Puja photographs and a winery coffee table. The dining area boasts elegant arches and an oval table by Remax Furniture with a vibrant yellow crockery unit. In the master bedroom, a canopy bed with ‘ghungroos’ honors the client’s daughter’s dance background, creating a tranquil reading nook. The bathroom’s floral wallpaper from Mind the Gap enhances the refined aesthetic.
This residence is more than just a home; it’s a curated experience of art, culture, and design. It provides residents a peaceful retreat from their corporate lives, inviting them to immerse themselves in its many wonders.
