Women chieftains are the major beneficiaries of PM Mudra Yojana Scheme

The disbursement of almost 93 percent of the total amount of loan approved  under  Prime Minister’s flagship scheme, PMMY for MSMEs to encourage entrepreneurship and self reliance has already been done as of now, according to the government data.

The noticeable fact is that women are reported to be the biggest beneficiaries of the PMMY in contrast to the UN apprehensions on the decline of women entrepreneurship in India. Uptill few months back, women from Tamil Nadu were topping the list of MUDRA loan beneficiaries followed by West Bengal, Karnataka, Bihar and Maharashtra which made up about 52 percent of the total amount of loan disbursed to the women under the scheme.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman earlier this year announced a 2 per cent interest subvention on loans up to Rs 50,000 secured under the Mudra scheme’s Shishu cover for 12 month which encompasses a relief of Rs 1,500 crore to Shishu loanees. The relief was part of the Rs 20 lakh crore Atmanirbhar Bharat stimulus package.

According to the update on MUDRA portal, 1,54,20,470 (1.54 crore) loans involving an amount of Rs 98,916.65 crore were sanctioned out of which Rs 91936.62 crore amount was disbursed, The disbursement rates for the preceding financial years FY20 and FY19 were 97.6 percent and 97 per cent respectively.
