Astronomical rise in enrollments for govt’s e-skilling courses

Since the government has launched multilingual online programmes with the vision to make the people self reliant, the platform has registered a whopping 2000 % increase in the number of enrollments during lockdown. As pandemic has affected almost all kinds of business adversely and consequently rendered a significant proportion of people without jobs. Youth are keen on acquiring the skills which can make them more self sufficient.

Data from the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) shows that enrollments have increased by a record 2,062% between February and end-August.Maximum enrollments have been registered from Uttar Pradesh followed by Bihar and West Bengal. Though no enrollment is registered from the states like Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and north east which account for a large chunk of workforce.
