Flower Carpet designs- A treat to weary eyes as Mughal Gardens open in Delhi

With ever so magnificent Mughal Gardens in full bloom again, patrons can romanticize the beauty of royal park,  designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens in 917, from February 12, 2022, till March 16.

As per the statement issued by Rashtrapati Bhavan on Thursday, the visitors will be allowed to see the Gardens only through advance online booking. Booking can be made through the link https://rashtrapatisachivalaya.gov.in or https://rb.nic.in/rbvisit/visit_plan.aspx

Spread over 15 acres, the magnificent  geometrical patterned Mughal Gardens is flourishing , with the flowers on the left side of the garden mirroring the display on the right side. It begins with rectangle-shaped terraced beds, followed by the ‘long garden’, which is also known as the ‘parda garden’ because it is walled in on its four sides. Twenty varieties of creepers adorn these walls. It ends with the ‘circular garden’ with a huge fountain in the centre.

This year’s Udyanotsav have 11 varieties of Tulips which are expected to bloom in phases during February.The exotic varieties of roses are named after international celebrities or iconic places like Christian Dior, Queen Elizabeth and Eiffel Tower. Some rose varieties have interesting names like China Man, First Prize and Sentimental. different types of white roses are known as Ice Berg, Summer Snow and Rose Sharbat.

Flower Carpets in alluring designs are to be displayed in the Central Lawns which will certainly be the cynosure of the  annual event.  The dominant colour scheme of this year’s ornamental flowers is white, yellow, red and orange. A small cactus corner has also been landscaped along with some air-purifying plants in the gardens.
