This artwork is an illustration of goddess Saraswati in Kalamkari style, Kalamkari is traditional folk art form of India from state of Andhra Pradesh. This art style is used to depict mythological scenes from Ramayan and Mahabharat, traditionally made on cloth with use of colours extracted from natural pigments.

In modern days this art style has be adopted and used in various other forms of art and craft , such as on paper, canvas, clothing and home decor.

 

Materials Required:

  • A3/A4 sized paper ( min 150gsm)
  • Fineliner pen ( black)
  • Acrylic paint ( crimson or magenta)
  • Paint brush ( round 000 and 1 , flat 2)
  • Compass
  • Pencil
  • Eraser
  • Ruler
  • Tissue
  • Bowl for water

Manasa R Shastry

Manasa R Shastry, is a self taught artist with expertise in Kalamkari and Kerala Mural in Indian folk art, acrylic and wall mural art. After completing her graduate in Animation and digital arts she took up the practice of traditional arts. Currently working as a full time art educator she has been conducting offline and online art workshops/classes, and also taking up wall mural commission in Bangalore.
