Korean firms keen to buy handicrafts and organic cotton from India

As Korea and India look to explore new vistas of bilateral trade to ward off their dependence on China, both counties are keen to trade diverse products with each other. Indian firms have shown interest in Korean toys and cosmetics as alternatives to replace buying from China on side and Korean firms are inclined to buy organic cotton, leather goods and handcrafts.

According to trade promotion agency Jeonbuk Business Centre, launched early this year to promote India-Korea trade, there are above 20 inquiries daily from Korean companies which want to buy industrial items and organic products from India amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

A Comprehensive economic partnership agreement (CEPA) between two countries is under consideration in which India also plans to seek concessions for its agriculture based export items like rice, grapes, pomegranates and eggplant to Seoul.
