PRERANA: An experiential learning program by Ministry of Education becomes a catalyst for community bonding

Designed to empower students with leadership qualities and ignite their passion for learning, the program, following National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 was started in January this year from a Vernacular School, established in 1888, in Mehsana.

In a week-long residential program,  a batch of 20 selected students (10 boys and 10 girls) from Classes 9 to 12  attend the program every week from various parts of the country.

Last month PRERANA UTSAV, a gateway to transformative opportunities, witnessed an overwhelming response with over 88,000 registrations from Haryana, Maharashtra, MP, Rajasthan, Daman and Diu and Dadra Nagar Haveli, and Gujarat in just five days.

The buzz is a testament to widespread interest and enthusiasm from students across states. The wave of interest reflects a collective eagerness to embark on the PRERANA Program journey!

The day-wise Program includes Yoga, mindfulness, and meditation sessions, followed by experiential learning, thematic sessions, and hands-on interesting learning activities.

Evening activities include Visits to ancient and heritage sites, inspirational film screenings, mission life creative activities, talent shows etc. ensuring a holistic learning approach.

Other diverse activities entails getting students acquainted with  indigenous knowledge systems, the latest State-of-the-art technologies, and learning from inspirational personalities.

This String Art piece of “प्रेरणा“, decorated with 2000 straight lines arranged in a circle, represents the teamwork of 20 students and their mentors. Using nearly 4 km of thread, the 5th and final batch of the pilot phase of Prerana Program created this beautiful piece of art!

Not only is the #PRERANA program positively impacting students’ lives, but it’s also weaving itself into the very fabric of the local community.

Through regular visits to the old age home, PRERANA participants are not just learning values like empathy, cooperation, and respect for elders; they’re actively embodying them. The warmth and joy exchanged during these visits are evident in the sheer fondness of the elderly, as they fondly reminisce and look forward to PRERANA batches each week!
