Work on Toy Park project along Yamuna Expressway to be expedited

After the emphasis on local manufacturing of toys by PM and the work on the impending project of setting up a toy manufacturing park along Yamuna Expressway, Noida which was conceived in 2019 to be expedited. As the import duty on toys was increased by the government last year, many industrialists are currently looking at it as a lucrative business in the long term.

It is known to very few people that India’s first toy hub was in Greater Noida and many plots were alloted to MSMEs in 1990s with the vision to make it a Toy city but the idea couldn’t pan out owing to lack of scrutiny. Now as the government is pushing the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, several toy manufacturing hubs have been announced in various parts of the country, including one along the Yamuna Expressway in Gautam Buddha Nagar.

Close to a hundred applications have been received from domestic toy manufacturers for the upcoming Toy Park along the Yamuna Expressway. “Allottees will not be able to sell the plots before 10 years and not without setting up and running a toy factory on it for at least five years,” says Arunveer Singh, CEO, Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA).
