Adopting sustainable fashion to cut down carbon footprints

As the textile sector stands notably high when it comes to analyzing the carbon footprints of various other sectors it can considerably reduce the rate of carbon emission by adopting a few alternative practices in the process of manufacturing as well as shipping.

There are some emerging players such as Greendigo, the kids wear clothing label founded by former bankers and Mumbai-based siblings Meghna Kishore and Barkha Bhatnagar, the brand claims to offer fabrics which are developed with a carbon neutral process following the “United Nations Sustainable Development Goals” (UNSDGs).

According to the owners the audit process has helped them understand how to reduce water consumption; non-toxic chemical dyes that do not bleed. Natural fibres from raw materials such as bamboo and eucalyptus are used in making the clothes.

The question of incorporating environmentally safe practices in the industry has long been bandied about in the circles of industrialists but it is high times industrialized started incorporating more such practices.
