Asian Paints’ engaged architect David Joe Thomas to present Colour of the Year 2024, ‘Terra’ in 3D

Colour of the Year 2024, Terra manifests an earthly connection of Indian dwellings, put forth by the team at ColourNext after intense research on the forecast of colours, materials, textures and finishes, relevant to design and color pallete identified in the Indian subcontinent.

To capture the vibrant hues of Indian landscape, Asian Paints roped in architect David Joe Thomas and photographer Ritesh Uttamchandani who re- imagined Terra in a three-dimensional form which resulted in a creative photoshoot of architectural structures juxtaposed against the parched lands.

With the Wallpaper of the Year and the Material Intelligence forecast of four design directions helmed by Amit Syngle, Managing Director and CEO, of Asian Paints Ltd., it introduces a novel side to perception of colours in our everyday routines, persuading its ways of influencing the cultural and social settings around us.

As per Manju Sara Rajan, senior advisor to Asian Paints. “For the general consumer, we hope the colour forecast offers the usual in unexpected ways. Perhaps they will reconsider the way colours are used, or the kind of colours that they may choose.”

An immersive look into the  universe of design, materials and colours, the Asian Paints ColourNext in its yet another anticipated reveal of the Colour of the Year 2024 introduces Terra, a soothing shade that encapsulates warmth for the new-age living spaces.

Trampled beneath our feet, soil has emerged as a catalyst for innovative design. What was once seen as mundane has now transformed into a refined material, igniting curiosity and experimentation in the world of design.

A mysterious discovery that binds elements of nature to make this one marvel, the Wallpaper of the Year, Samsara. With hues found in the gottos, slush, leaves and natural dyes with gouache wash with a metallic golden leaf, this wallpaper stands out to reveal the beauty of soil.

It boldly embraces the iconic elements of our nostalgic heritage, infusing them with the cutting-edge narratives of technology and innovation.
