Dastkar to receive financial aid of Rs 1 crore from American Express

Upholding organisation’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), multinational financial services firm American Express announced the financial assistance of Rs 1 crore to Dastkar, a delhi based not for profit NGO working to support craftisans. 
 
The fund will be utilised to reward the women artisans in payment of wages and providing raw material along with the marketing of their produce. Women are engaged in diverse crafts like weaving, block printing, basket making, mirror embroidery and many others cut across the length and breadth of the country.
 
Women from 19 states namely Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Assam, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Jammu and Kashmir, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Odisha, Jharkhand, Manipur, Telangana and Bihar to be covered in the aid.
 

According to  Manoj Adlakha, Senior Vice President and CEO, American Express Banking Corp India through funding to Dastkar, they will be supporting the sustenance of crafts community marred by pandemic.

“We are proud to contribute in mitigating the impact and conserving the country’s diverse cultural heritage,” said Adlakha.
 
Thanking American Express for extending much needed aid Dastkar Chairperson and Founder member Laila Tyabji said, ” The corporate sector has a crucial role to play in both financial and marketing so as to recover from the devastating impacts of the pandemic and rebuild their livelihood.”
