Gujarat gets its first vintage steam Heritage locomotive

Adding on to the attraction for the tourists visiting Statue of Unity in Kevadia, the motor coach of the train is designed as the steam locomotive. It has panoramic windows with roller blinds and wooden interiors.
The non stop train will ply from November 5 between Ekta Nagar railway station, which connects to the Statue of Unity in Kevadia, and Ahmedabad.
This train, has a reflection of glorious heritage, and yet it is most modern, designed with state-of-the-art amenities.
The interior of the dining car consists of teak wood dining tables and a two-seater sofa with cushioned seats.
The train has Fiber Reinforced Plastic (FRP) modular toilets with branded fittings.
The steam heritage special train has three executive chair car coaches with a seating capacity of 48 each. The train has a dining coach for 28 persons. Fare for the one-way journey is nearly Rs 885.
The Heritage Special Train will be an added attraction for the tourists visiting Statue of Unity.
It has GPS based on Public address and Passenger Information System (PAPIS).
The luggage rack arrangements are similar to TEJAS Express coaches.
Earlier this month, PM on October 5 inaugurated Rajasthan’s first heritage train, the Heritage Special-Marwar Express from Jodhpur. The heritage train of Rajasthan operates between Marwar Junction Railway Station in the Pali district and Kamlighat Railway Station in the Rajsamand district.
