ITDC devising pathways out of crisis in hospitality and non essential retail sector

India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) has introduced a tailor made programme aiming at entrepreneurship development to revive hard-hit hospitality and non-essential retail industry.

The entrepreneurship development programme curated by Ashok Institute of Hospitality & Tourism Management (AIH&TM), a certified training institute under ITDC invites both graduates and professionals associated with the hospitality industry who are reeling under the havoc wreaked by pandemic upon the sector.

Speaking at the introductory webinar, Tourism secretary Arvind Singh said, “ITDC’s initiative to create entrepreneurs under its Entrepreneurship Development Programme is a very timely and a welcome initiative which is supported by the Ministry of Tourism and Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) under active execution of their organizations namely National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology (NCHMCT) & National Institute of Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (NIESBUD).”

The pilot project of the Entrepreneurship Development Programme will provide a sort of incubation facility and non-financial support to experienced and young professionals, pummelled by the pandemic in running catering or hospitality-related small businesses such as  canteen/cafés, handicrafts, banquet services in government and private offices/institutions and other commercial buildings in various locations.

Firstly it will be based in Delhi/NCR and will later be implemented across the country in coordination with state tourism departments subsequently.
