Mystra- A tropical theme restaurant near Candolim, Goa is an artfully designed  Portuguese villa

Nestled in the posh area of Assagao in North Goa, the rustic space is artfully designed into a chic tropical restaurant by Beyond Designs with sloped terracotta roof interiors layered with red bricks, warm lighting, artisanal lamps, high ceilings, and other vintage-style elements to stir the old world charm.

Mystara is just a 30-minute drive for anyone staying in Candolim – of course, subject to traffic. This is the second establishment by restaurateur Richa Malhan after Miss Nora in Delhi.

The tropical theme thrives when a lot of colours and textures are in the mix, like the patterned dining tables, oversized mythical creatures in the interior courtyard, and chequered tiles.

“The entire space is thoughtfully designed to create an inviting atmosphere that is both chic and laid back,” as per Sachin Gupta and Neha Gupta, Founders and Principal Designers of Beyond Designs.

The villa is designed in manner to reflect both regality and rustic  living, the delight of contrast is irresistible with plush furniture, mixed with ornate, dark wooden elements declare its inclination towards an evident colonial style, incorporated with a hint of classicism.

The waiting lounge, with its red brick walls and vaulted ceiling of the waiting area transports you to some European tavern having earthy-toned seating, plush cushions, vintage patterns, and plenty of deep red hues.

The chandeliers, The wrought iron lights, artworks, accessories and wall sconces are custom made by Beyond Designs Home  which add an artisanal touch to the setup.

The bricked walls and arches of the courtyard are made of red stone furnished with wooden dining tables with linear brass inlay work and cane chairs bringing an artisanal touch to the dining experience.

The interiors of Mystras are juxtaposed with sleek, modern furniture and lighting. The earthy tones and soft light fixtures create a warm and inviting ambience, making it a perfect spot for a romantic dinner or a gathering with friends.

The verandah is redesigned and retrofitted with wooden pillars and a terracotta roof aligns the aesthetic with the existing structure.This alfresco area opens out to the outdoor dining space with cluster seating, and a wood-fired stove all nestled amid picturesque landscaping.

The captivating Pegasus sculpture dangling in the space instantly commands the attention of a barfly. The courtyard’s high ceiling dramatises the magnificent artwork. The inner verandah features cosy seating, wooden dining tables with liner brass inlay work, and chic cane chairs, adding an artisanal detail to the dining experience.

Mystras restaurant in Goa is  a commendable example of colonial architecture blended with coastal surroundings.
