Need separate plans for rural and urban India to achieve self-reliance: Nitin Gadkari

Ever since the launch of Atma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyan, govt is constantly trying to reinforce the domestic manufacturers, recently Minister of micro, small and medium enterprises, Nitin Gadkari asserted the need to find “swadeshi” alternative for the products which we are compelled to import owing to the unorganised nature of the many local industries.

Addressing the FICCI Annual General Meeting, Gadkari proposed to make two separate plans for urban and rural India, as “without developing rural India, one cant expect the intended results for Atma Nirbhar Bharat mission,” he remarks.

For the holistic development of the economy, the demographic dividend of rural India has to be harnessed which can be done by mobilising the people in the direction to produce as well as buy local products. Manufacturing clusters must be focused towards creating employment potential in the rural, backward and tribal area.
