Pahalgam winter carnival gingered up valley’s cultural gaiety

Jammu and Kashmir tourism department recently organised a two day winter fete in a famous resort of Pahalgam to revitalise the tourism & craft sector blighted by the pandemic. 
 
Air was again full of joy and merriment as the renowned tourist spot reverberated with alluring displays of art and craft such as calligraphy, live painting, tapestry weaving, handicrafts and other culinary arts performed by both amateurs and professionals. 
 
Apart from there are other amusements such as traditional music performances by renowned singers, ‘tonga’ rides, adventure sports activities etc which drew an overwhelming participation of locals and tourists for the two-day event, as per organisers. 
 
According to the Director Tourism, Kashmir, the festival has been conducted to promote the popular resort for the winter season which had been adversely affected due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
 
The festival also includes an exhibition of crafts from nearby villages like  tapestry of cottage craft and handicrafts, cuisine, fruits, and other entities of the local economy,” he said.
 
Pahalgam is one of the most sought after summer destinations by tourists but the authorities keep tourists to Pahalgam in the winter months also which looks majestic during snowfall, this event will attract travelers from across the country to Pahalgam also during these months.
