One of the oldest and most popular art forms of Odisha, Pattachitra is thus a painting done on canvas, and is manifested by rich colourful application, creative motifs and designs, and portrayal of simple themes, mostly mythological in depiction.
The art revolves around the life of Lord Krishna, can never be complete without a balance and coordinated effort of both the genders.
Most of us men are engaged in sketching the designs, while the most important work, preparing the ‘patta’ or the canvas is done by women.
Materials Required:
- A4 size paper (thick)
- Pencil, Eraser, Sharpner
- Setsquare, Scale
- Permanent marker (One thick, One thin)
- One water resistant gel pen (0.5)
- Water colour
- Brush (00,0,2,4,6)
- Water bowl and Cloth

Practising Pattachitra art since last 14 years, Smrutiranjan Ojha is a professional pattachitra artist from Odisha. Experimenting pattachitra on various medium he has been taking workshop for both Indian and overseas audience for a long time, he is credited with the honour of National Scholarship award in pattachitra From ministry of culture (Govt of India) and many more.
