Rajasthan’s ‘Palace on Wheels’ is now available for destination weddings

Operated and maintained by the Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation (RTDC), Palace on Wheels, one of the most palatial and sought-after trains is all gilded and  garlanded for your next stop – Marriage.

Taking cue from Boeing 747 which recently doubled up as the venue for destination wedding, Rajasthan government’s approval signifies a broader vision to establish the state as a premier destination of tourism, not only within India, but also on the global stage.

This move comes in the wake of a strategic decision that aims to position Rajasthan as a premier tourism destination, both nationally and internationally.

While the government’s preliminary approval has been secured, officials are currently in the process of figuring out logistics, including pricing packages and the commencement date.

“The vision is to make the state a cornerstone of tourism in India and abroad. Making the Palace on Wheels available for destination weddings is a significant decision. It will not only boost destination weddings in Rajasthan but will also instil faith and respect for Rajasthani art, culture, and Vedic wedding traditions among foreign tourists,” shared Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari, according to a report by PTI.

Rajasthan, with 75% of the country’s heritage properties, naturally stands out as a prime choice for destination weddings. Online bookings will be facilitated, according to Principal Secretary (Tourism) Gayatri Rathore.

Launched in 1982 in association with the Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation (RTDC), Palace on Wheel boasts 14 luxe guest coaches named after the former princely regions of Rajputana, deluxe and super deluxe cabins inspired by Rajasthani dynasties, a soul-soothing spa and lounge, as well as a diner and bar serving the choicest of regional flavours.
