‘Project Sparsh’ at Jaipur’s  Netraheen Kalyan Sangh School offers students new ways of seeing

The art workshop at Rajasthan’s very old school for visually impaired students in collaboration with Asian Paints and Start India foundation aims to make art accessible to all through the tangible element inherent in traditional arts.

Recognized by both the state government and government of India, The Rajasthan Netraheen Kalyan Sangh School has been a beacon of hope for visually impaired students since 1968.

Providing a nurturing environment for students to not just excel at education but also enables their holistic development.

The goal of Project Sparsh is to introduce new ways of experiencing art to students while celebrating the vibrant and cultural heritage of Rajasthan through the designs of the tactile murals.

An art workshop conducted as a part of Project Sparsh provided a level playing field for visually impaired students to showcase their creativity and talent.

The workshop not only served as a space for artistic expression but also as a means of empowerment, allowing the students to engage in a meaningful and enriching activity.

One of the most remarkable aspects of Project Sparsh was the combination of a textile working technique exclusive to Rajasthan, Bandhej, which was combined with Braille to create outdoor murals. This unique approach, executed by Rajasthani artisans, allowed the students to experience amazing skills and a sense of inclusivity through art.

The enrichment workshop manifests the commitment of Asian Paints and St+art India Foundation to fostering inclusivity and creativity among the students. It was a celebration of the students’ artistic abilities and a testament to the transformative power of art in their lives.

Initiatives like Project Sparsh can certainly help change our attitude to impaired vision as they fill their hearts with a sense of being a part of the creative community.
