Terracotta design cafe by studio Renesa is both rusty and creamy

Rosie & Tillie- A café by day and bar by night, designed by Delhi-based architecture & interior design studio Renesa with terracotta and terrazzo materials in city’s upmarket retail hub Saket signifies that it is the designer’s job to dial up the brand values and capture people’s perceptions in coherence with nature.

Good design is indeed a catalyst for a good atmosphere but there isn’t the magic ingredient to craft a restaurant design. A lack of a coherent aesthetic is certainly keenly noticed by patrons in the same way as they tend to admire the harmony with nature.

Warm blazing orange booths of Rosie & Tillie, a café and lounge in Delhi’s retail hub Saket, made out of smooth terracotta and terrazzo materials are quite striking and unique from its neighbours. The minimalism with a brilliant balance of color cast a soothing spell.

Run by  owners – chefs Anukriti Anand and Vicky Mandal – who wanted to create a hybrid open-plan brunch and cocktail bar, the cafe embodies a woman who goes by the name Rosie in the morning and Tillie in the evening,”  as per Renesa Head Architect Sanchit Arora.

Stand in the vicinity of a former Indian restaurant in a shopping mall in New Delhi’s Saket neighbourhood, the cafe features terracotta, warm white terrazzo and curvilinear architectural motifs. An outdoor seating section that is decorated in the same materials and colour palette as the cafe’s interior.

The entrance is dotted with a  row of rust-coloured and creamy white booths upholstered with plush white seats, which run through the drafty central space adding texture and warmth as well as intimacy for diners.

Tessellated white terrazzo throughout, each booth has a circular table in its middle where customers can dine on delectable viands on menu items such as french toast, buffalo chicken burgers and American-style pancakes.

According to the designer, “the aesthetics and intimacy of communal dining is accentuated by bespoke luminaires that are artistic installations in their own style.”

The space has a mixture of traditional table seats and bar counter options. During the evening, they can quaff cocktails while sitting on high stools at the main bar counter towards the back of the room.

The open, spacious comfort of Rosie & Tillie with dual experience of cafe and dreamy lounge is an unassuming antidote to the typical club goer.
