With the launch of e-commerce portal Khadi India eyes to join the league of biggies

After launching first of its kind online shopping platform eKhadiIndia.com which will be showcasing a welter of products linked with various sector such as garments,footwear, home decor and organic food, Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) envisages to make natural Khadi India products easily accessible to the new and wide range of consumers.

Briefing about the future plans, KVIC Chairman Vinai Kumar Saxena stated,  “e-commerce turf dominated by Amazon, Flipkart, and vertical marketplaces such as BigBasket, and Grofers, KVIC has products currently listed across 58 categories selling groceries, footwear, apparel, herbal medicines, spices, and more.”

The launch comes in the wake of KVIC’s recent crackdown on counterfeit khadi products being sold on e-commerce marketplaces such as Amazon, Flipkart, Snapdeal, and others as claimed by the commission.

The beta portal launched by Khadi in August yielded nice response in terms of revenues, it was managed by KVIC itself, the new market place will be operated by a franchise. The e-commerce marketplace is expected to cross Rs 2 crore in turnover by end of the current financial year 2020-21 with khadi masks, khadi fabric, and honey being the top-selling product products.
